About Otto Home

Otto Home is an open source smart home platform developed by ComfortClick. It brings years of professional building automation experience into a platform designed for modern homes, integrators, hardware manufacturers, and privacy-conscious users.

We built Otto Home to solve the problems that still define much of the smart home market: closed ecosystems, cloud dependence, fragmented integrations, and too little control over your own data. The goal was to create a platform that stays open, deploys flexibly, and can serve both individual installations and commercial product strategies.

The platform is built around a simple foundation: local-first control, transparent software, and support for open standards. Otto Home is designed to work with technologies such as Matter, KNX, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Home Assistant integrations without forcing vendor lock-in.

AI is deeply integrated into the platform through Otto as a character, not just as a feature. With built-in speech-to-text and text-to-speech, Otto can listen, respond, guide users through the home, and become a fun daily companion for the whole family. We are also building Otto Kids experiences, including playful apps for brushing teeth, completing routines, and earning Otto Coins. The same AI layer extends to security, where NVR footage can be turned into searchable video-to-text descriptions and summaries so users can find important events faster.

Otto Home is not only for end users. We also built it for hardware manufacturers and OEM partners who want to ship their own smart home solution on custom hardware or operate the platform from their own servers. That includes private cloud deployments, manufacturer-managed infrastructure, and product-level customization for different markets.
